    Good news everyone!

    Comixology Submit

The Trouble and Dangerous Chapter/Issue 1 is now on Comixology via their Submit program. You can find it here:

More of the completed issues are on the way, but for the time being if you like the comic head over there and grab a copy for just 99 cents. It looks real swell on those fancy high-res phone screens! Don't forget to rate it!

    Chapter 5 Begins!

Hey everyone, we're back from our little summer hiatus with the first several pages from Chapter 5: "Franchise Opportunities Available." We've been releasing 2 pages every Wednesday for the last couple weeks and plan to continue that update schedule for as long as possible. Hopefully this will allow us to produce 3 or so chapters a year. Here's a little preview of the cover for Chapter 5:

    Chapter 4 is complete!

With Chapter 4 initially completed here's what's happening in the immediate future:

Most noticeably we'll be taking a little bit of a break to get the next chapter scripted and plotted out. I'd like to actually have a complete script for a change. I don't know exactly when that'll start up, but probably a couple months at least. It's tough in the summer with so much going on.

The website will be getting revamped a little, the actual comic viewing mechanism is pretty solid so it's not changing really. But we'll be redesigning a little, streamlining the blog and adding some new features like character pages. Hard to say the exact extent.

Chapter 4 has really felt like it's been going on forever (hopefully it was enjoyable) and while its been completed in once sense, it's not quite finished. There are a few inconsistencies that I need to address and a few other things that I feel like could be improved upon. I'd like to get some of this stuff corrected so I can print up Issue 4 comics for Indy Pop Con at the end of next month.

Speaking of printed comics, they will be available soon for online purchase (printed & digital). Also, since the idea is to do 12 chapters in Vol 1, I'm very likely going to be printing a 125ish page trade paperback of the first 4 issues. Details to come on that one.

Lastely, I think we've built up enough content to explore publishing this thing to Comixology, so that'll be in the works as soon as chapter 4 is finalized. Likely at the $0.99 price point.

    On Gravitas & Rewrites

Chapter 4 (and to a lesser extent chapter 3) hasn't really been as funny as I'd hoped it would be. I definitely don't think it's as funny as the first two, and I'm (of course) working under the assumption that any of this has been funny at all. I did some pretty big rewrites with the hope that it not only makes for funnier dialog, but also streamlines the story a little and gets the page count under control.

It's definitely helped some, and I'm going to continue to look for ways to improve the writing. The biggest problem is that Gravitas as a character just isn't that inherently funny. A lot of the humor of this book is character driven and comes from their absurdity and their interactions with The Trouble. Gravitas is considerably less absurd then the previous two villains, and what were intended as his absurd qualities have't ever really come together properly (ie. executed poorly).

There's still some time, but I'm thinking we're probably a little to far into this chapter to really fundamentally change him. But like I said, I'm continually looking for ways to improve it. I do see these still as a work in progress. Anyway, hopefully the other qualities of this chapter are enough to carry it along.

We've nearly finalized the cover for Chapter 4. It's been added to the comic page, but here it is just for fun:

    The Comic is Back!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that as of last Wednesday the comic is back on it's weekly update schedule until the conclusion on chapter 4! These long hiatuses usually result in a fury of activity right off the bat so I'm trying to make the most of this energy.

There are lots of cool things in the works including the final cover art for chapter 4 and a couple new characters that should have a significant impact on the comic and it's characters! Though, perhaps not right away.

    Anyway, enjoy!

    Status Report

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of communication and updates. Summer (among other things) has derailed the comic a little bit. Well, quite a bit. But we do plan to return in the fall with the conclusion to chapter 3/4 and brand new adventures. Watch the Facebook/Twitter pages and the RSS for updates!

    Troubling News

Hey everyone, we're gearing up to get going on Chapter 4/Part 2 of The Weight of the Matter Storyline. I don't have a solid start date, but we're most likely looking at early March. This will be the hopefully thrilling conclusion of the current story line.

We're also working on getting Issue 3 in final printing form so we can have those books for the Lexington Comic Convention on the 16th & 17th of March. These books will also be available for purchase online pretty soon, we'll be sure to make a proper announcement about that when the time comes.

Speaking of which, we'll be at the Lexington Comic Convention on the 16th & 17th! As always we're sharing a table with R Squared Comics. If all goes to plan we'll have the first 3 books and some posters available, probably stickers too! Stop by and say hello if you're planning to attend! Billy Dee will be there!

    Update Schedule

Sorry everyone for the sporadic updates. Life, the holidays and various other things have made sticking to the update schedule a little harder then usual. The final page of Chapter 3 will be coming on the 19th.

Chapter 4 will be the conclusion of the story that was started in Chapter 3. I'd really like to have each chapter be a self-contained adventure but doing a 48 or so page chapter creates all sorts of logistical problems with the website and the eventual printing.

Again, sorry for the delays! The conclusion is coming as soon as possible. Chapter 4 will get under way in January and will hopefully be back to the weekly update schedule.

    GenCon & Stuff

Sorry about the lack of Blog updates, it's been a busy couple of weeks so lets just get right into it:

    GenCon Indy

We had a table in Authors Avenue generously provided by Ronda and Brian at R Squared Studios. We had books 1 and 2 on sale (no stickers here due to con policy) and the newly printed up postcards. There was pretty good traffic although I don't think people where really there to buy comics. That being said we sold a few books and saw a bunch of friends. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and/or bought something!

    GenCon Booth

Here's what the Trouble half of the table looked like. The benefit of only one table was that it was full of stuff and looked quite good. Anyway, everything we really well. We had a good time manning the table and talking to people. The next con will be Kokomo Comic Con, another small one, sometime this fall. Details to follow...

    Chapter 3 Goings On

Chapter 3 continues to progress. We're up to page 12 counting the cover and title page. Speaking of the cover, the placeholder image has gotten upgraded to a further-along placeholder image:

    Chapter 3 Cover Progress

I'm making a concerted effort to not make this cover blue. Chapters 1 & 2 are fairly different but still have a lot of similarities. Luckily the eclipse can be orange so takes care of that. Still lots of purple, which seems to dominate by art (it's cause I don't want to use pure black and that's the best analog).

Also page 11 got a little bit of an art upgrade. I think it does a much better job of establishing the setting now. I made up a quick mini-poster of that image:

I don't know quite how this image will be used, we might include it in the chapter 3 print comic if we need to pad out a signature. It could become a little series if we have enough future "Locations of Interest".

Last thing to mention regarding Chapter 3, the art on many of the pages is getting some reworking and enhancements a few days to a week after it's posted. Much of this is due to the fact that once the whole spread is done some possibilities become apparent and stuff is reworked to accommodate them. Other times I'm just not happy with some things and the extra time allows me to make some fixes. I'd love to have everything perfect on Wednesday morning, but that's not always possible. So you might take a minute to run back through Chapter 3 as it very well might have changed since you last saw it.

I guess that's it for now! For more frequent, smaller updates and things visit out Facebook page.

    Derby Con Debriefing

    Hey Gang,

As mentioned, we went down for The Derby City Comic Con on Saturday (June 30th). This was our first convention as an exhibitor and everything went really well. I was staggeringly unprepared as it turns out, thanks again to Brian and Ronda (don't forget to check out their excellent comic Yva Starling: Troubleshooter) for helping me out with things like the tablecloth, smaller bills for change, and of course the table. We had a huge space, so I ended up with a full table to try and fill up.

    Here's how it turned out:
